Experience
2007-present: Associate editor of Celebration: A Comprehensive Worship Resource (a magazine published by the National Catholic Reporter Publishing Company). From 2007-April 2009, I did this at the office in Kansas City, Missouri. Starting May 2009 I do the job on a contract basis from home.
April 2010-May 2011: Editorial assistant at LongHill Partners, Inc., Woodstock, Vermont. LongHill's three imprints are Jewish Lights Publishing, SkyLight Paths Publishing, and Gemstone Press.
2007-2009 (concurrently with Celebration position, above): Staff writer and copy editor at the National Catholic Reporter newspaper in Kansas City, Missouri. From December 2008-April 2009, I was the newspaper's head copy editor and also the poetry editor.
2006-2007 academic year: Lecturer in mass communications at Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas. I taught classes in basic newswriting, opinion writing, and "Faith and Media." While at Benedictine College, I wrote articles about events on campus for the college Web site and for some of its alumni magazines and newsletters.
From 2006-2007 I wason a volunteer basisthe book review editor for Benedictines magazine, published by Mount St. Scholastica Monastery, Atchison, Kansas.
2003-2006: Letters editor/Assistant to the opinion editor at the National Catholic Reporter. During this time I was also the copy editor for Celebration (as above).
Between 2000-2002 I did various tasks around Mount St. Scholastica Monastery in Atchison. Mostly I worked as an assistant to the archivist there. I also gave a number of classes and presentations about church history to the sisters, and at parishes in the area. I was a nun of this Benedictine community from 2000-2007, but left before making final vows. For nearly six of these years I was known as "Sister Antonia."
1998-2000: Cataloguer at Alcuin Library, St. John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota. I worked specifically with the Arca Artium collection, which addressed the interface between art and religion and especially the book arts, such as printmaking and illustration.

M.A. in Theology, St. John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota, 1999concentration in church history and monastic studies. This included a summer 1998 study abroad in Ein Karem, Israel.
B.A. in English Literature, University of North Carolina at Asheville, 1996concentration in creative writing. This included a summer 1994 study abroad in Oxford, England.

I published quite a lot of articles, essays and book reviews in the National Catholic Reporter newspaper between 2003 and 2009. Some samples:
